Job Description
The purpose of the position is to utilize knowledge of controls layout design, power electronics modeling, and related software to provide application and design of new products as well as the redesign of existing products. Simply put, design PCB circuit around software for outside vendor manufacture.

Specific responsibilities include:
Design a range of simple analog/digital circuits and/or complex power supply stages from 5W 1000KW
Provide hardware and documentation to certification labs to obtain product and agency safety approval
Provide cost references to marketing
Work with purchasing to procure materials and outside parts as well as perform vendor audits as required
Check drawings and Bills of Material for new models and change requests to outside vendors and purchasing
Document procedures and standards for manufacturing and engineering
Provide support to customers and serve as a technical liaison where necessary including providing expertise for new applications and providing solutions to their issues.
Write production line test specifications for vendors and plants
Obtain, review and interpret agency standards to ensure product compliance

Qualifications:
Bachelor Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field in Electronic Controls
Min. 5 years of technical experience from an industrial company with emphasis on power electronics and controls and leading or strong participation in new product development projects. Strongly prefer some exposure to electric motor drives or related products. Experience with electrical power 120V AC to 480V AC.
Demonstrated specific technical knowledge of electronics hardware design including microcontrollers, digital and analog circuits, including power supply development on several platforms
Demonstrated experience in PCB board layout design & electronics assembly for EMC
Demonstrated experience in power electronics modeling (heat generation, life prediction, and optimal design), hardware design (digital and analog) and assembly design including heat transfer and vibration
Demonstrated knowledge of P-Spice, ORCAD or PADS design tools (or similar software packages)
Familiarity with CAM350, AutoCAD, and Solid Works
Basic knowledge of the concepts and techniques of reliability engineering and life expectancy modeling with heat transfer preferred
Some experience in providing customer support and dealing with challenging customer issues
Skilled in organizing, prioritizing and coordinating highly effective working relationships with all levels of personnel within and outside of the organization
Strong project management competencies and problem solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
